Right lets kick this off at the beginning,,
i bought this buggy as a run around for the last half of the summer and the intent to garage full strip and customise through the winter,,
ohh the torture of not being able to drive this fun toy at the moment,
after purchase i had it delivered due to no MOT but that did not phase me as i knew it needed a little work to get it back on the road.
Time to roll up those sleevies and get dirty 







so day 1 the buggy looked like this, lets get her back on the road

NIce project you got there, looks like Karl's old Ranchero originally from down Swanage Way although I think he sold it on a couple of years ago.

Hasn't it got a brand new floor in it?

Good thinking back on the road for the summer, list the changes and improvements you want to make as you use it then after the rebuild it is very close to how you want it. However they are never finished and keep evolving.
Hopefully see it at an MBC night.

so as i clean and strip bits i'm capable of after finding 1 or 2 oil leaks,
new crank pulley
new fuel pump and gaskets,
cleaned push rods
cleaned rockers new gaskets and covers
new push rod tubes & seals
oil pump gasket and new cover plate (on order)
just waiting for above to arrive then put new pulley on and can sort out the timing
bodywork/roof is ongoing repair will post up when i have done more about that,

wasn't impressed with finding a few of these,, tips had been stripped and nuts put back on just on the biting point, out with the old and new ones fabricated for pennies

few tweeks that i know of left and a nice elec fault that's playing havoc tween the indicators and headlights bad earth somewhere?
but hopefully in the test centre for next fri/sat

yes i think it was karls a few owners ago,
floor pan is in good condition needs a few rubber bungs here and there and a good coat of wax oil

yep once the stress of getting it back on the road is over,, i'm already looking at fabricating my own dash and centre console, but fixing the roof of all its paint pits, cracks and voids is priority before it rains to bad round here 

i dooooo like the look of Croweys back seats but will need to hide the battery from the rear foot well somehow

another part of the overhaul turned up today

so i put it on and gears felt a little clunky, inspection time 

not sure if this qualifies as a full linkage change or just the bushes etc

You get a coupling and repace the lot but the location grub screw should be lockwired around the shaft or it will come undone and you loose your gears.

I'll be interested in how the scat shifter fits in, mine took a load of fettling to get right with some serious adaptions to base late and the end of the shift rod.. But now it's working it's awesome......

Mike the skat went on almost fine (he says that before a second test) , took a few attempts to settle it and find the gears but got there without having to modify the base plate, however there is some slop in there and this clunk when shifting so thats next step to sort that linkage coupling bush etc then will see if it did go on ok.

New lights on yesterday,, few issues to sort yet,

Today best pal turned up to get under me feet

and made a start on the new dash, individual dials, new lamps and push switches ordered just need to finish the former and figurer out where i'll put stuff before fleecing/glassing the plug 

Roof almost ready for priming one last corner to rebuild

pretty sure ive got all the dings and dents out, rebuilt the corners by about 2" each side so that now they fit nice and flush against the windscreen and first layer of high build primer on incase i've left a few holes
