Well after what seems an age I finally drove the buggy again today after swapping the front disc.   I now have discs front and drums rear with residual pressure valves on the fronts.

I took it for an MOT and was stunned that both fronts were an easy pass and both perfectly equal on the brake test!  Happy days.  But I had only done 5 miles and the brakes are far from being bedded in properly.

The brakes work really well I have to say.  But I still have around an inch or two before they really start to work.  I was expecting better.  The residual pressure valve from Kingfishers (Thanks Dave DND for the tip) made a massive difference.

As they passed the MOT I am slightly less concerned and he is an friendly MOT guy so I did ask him to give them a really good check (and he did).  I know that with a bit more driving I will get used to them but just wanted to see what others thought and if they could be improved more.

My thoughts are:

1. Put some miles on the new brakes and get them properly bedded in
2. Bleed all 4 again just in case
3. Ask you lot for inspiration  :D

Cheers

Tony

thanks Dave

You will have gone through this I guess :)    Your write up kept me going I have to say and was so helpful.  The crap parts I got was just a set back and got there in the end.  They certainly brake better.  Oh and the Kingfisher residual valves - Top Tip - Thank you!
