Hi...anyone with Cappuccino seats that have some pics of how you mounted them would really help as I bought some and the old mounts are not going to work. I need to get them as far back as possible due to my long legs plus I have the harness mounts either side...may mock something in wood tomoz ..but looking for inspiration...thanks

I cut all the excess bracketry off the Suzuki runners, and then welded them to some box section that was then drilled and bolted through the floor

Well after advice from Dave and Hunter I set off with renewed enthusiasm tonight...... sadly I am now rather deflated.    If you have very long legs (and I do) you need the seat a long way back.  I just cant get it back enough as it hits the tunnel and also keeps fowling on my harness mounts.  So decided it has to be a job for another day as I am hoping the bits arrive tomorrow to sort my oil leak (I ordered them at the weekend) so tomorrow needs to be an engine day..... so pop the old seats back ..... well that's what I thought.  2 hours later and the buggers still are not in..... called it a night as I was getting grumpy and making stupid mistakes....... so tomorrow will be a big evening if the bits arrive as now I have the leak and the seats to sort!!    NEWS is looking a bit iffy now  :'(

If its any consolation I feel your pain. Mine originally had Corbeau GT buckets which meant the seat would only go back half way as it was to wide and fouled on either the 3 point harness mounts or the rear of the tunnel. I am 6ft and couldnt drive the buggy cause my knee fouled the steering, gear shift.

Ended up raising and repositioning the steering column and then fitting narrower seats. I got a set of seat runners from a Vitara and cut these up to mount to a set of buckets.

Mounted the runners onto the seat (had to drill some new holes in runners) then bolted the runners down onto some box section at the back and straight onto the pan at the front - this gave me the right rake on the seats as they are non recliners. Bolts through pan had spreader plates in place underneath pan so as not to pull through in the event of a shunt.

Nightmare job trying to fit, measure, refit, get bolts in innacessible places etc. If you can, try and make the bolts that go through the seat runners to the floor "captive" in the runner so you can bolt up from underneath without the bolt spinning all the time.

I can now fit in the Buggy, but TBH the seats are too narrow and a bit uncomfortable especially with the 3 point harness  :-\

Next step would be to find some narrow non buckets (Maybe MX 5?) but too get them far enough back I will need to ditch the 3 point and go for a inertia belt, and for that I need to fit the roll cage yada, yada, ::)

If you want any pics of my fitment just shout - keep up the good work brother  ;-)up

Cheers,

Paul.

Remove any trim from the seat then you could always reshape the flared section of tunnel by cutting a chunk out and welding in flat plates like a scoop so the flat tunnel sides go further rear.

Think it will be a combination of the two ie re-shaping the tunnel and chopping the seat.  I have long legs and that is the problem with a SWB.... really a LWB would have been a better way to go (Dreams of a Manxter   ::) ) .... Plus I may end up ditching the Harness for an inertial real.... but then I need to tap the roll bar )or weld on a bracket)  and depending on the seat the size of the real could be an issue.

So lots to work out and what I was hoping tp be a 5 min job now looks like a winter project.  If ever this rain stops I want to drive the buggy and see if I have cured my leaks.  And RMCH is not far away so dont want to mess and risk it not being on the road again.   So a definate "to be continued" and expect me to be looking at everyones seat mounts and belts when ever I meet you :)

Thanks all!
