As the title says really. I'm building a stainless tank and need to know the outlet pipe diameter so I can make a screwable outlet thanks Mike.

A JIC or AN fitting would be good, you could then run proper fuel lines all the way through rather than pipe/jubilee clips or easily convert it to any size push on pipe you want.

It would be great if it was moved to the lowest point on the tank when fitted in a Buggy too, in front of the beam rather than in the way of the track rods.

what i have used is a lambda probe boss with a drilled lambda plug to accept what ever size pipe.

Terry i can put this anywhere so if you feel it would be best closer to the front of the car then i can do that.

so i don't know if having a  M18 x 1.5 lambda thread would help with the fittings you mentioned.

I have just fitted 8mm throughout on mine but that is not the standard.  I bought a larger outlet pipe from VW Heritage, think the standard is 7mm (but not sure).
If it is available (or can be welded) how about the larger one exiting the tank with a shorter tail attached, then it can be used as standard or the shorter bit removed to give 8mm.

I have also gone 8mm throughout my buggy with the exception of the step up from the tank its self.  My electric fuel pump is 8mm so it made sense to me and the 8mm full ethanol rated pipes are easy to get and not a bad price.

I did speak to heritage about this and they recommended I swap the outlet pipe to 8mm to match the pump but its all working so I am not going to touch it until something breaks

You can clamp the larger pipe onto the smaller outlet and it is low pressure so should be fine, mine was like that for ages, but I had the tank out so an easy swap

May be overkill but I have one of those step up barbed fittings that take it from original to 8mm so just a short length of smaller hose from the tank to this....seems to work ok and will probably change if I ever take the tank out

One of these would work well, you can get them in stainless and it means you get the choice of going back to a push on fitting or if you are using jic you can do it all the way from the tank.

Jic 6 hose internal diameter is 8mm if anyone wanted closer to stock Jic 4 is 4.8mm and all the fittings can be got from the same site.
