A decent second hand weber will definately be better than the Empi copy.........if you decide on a progressive.

^^ WHS   ;-)up

And the difference between the Weber and the Solex is simply staggering   ;-)up

Hi All
I hear what people are saying about both carbs so lets open it up for a quick pole, if you had a 1300 what carb would you put on.

Dave DND appriciate your choice of carb, but we are talking about a 1285cc   40 hp  max (brand new engine when it was manufactored), you really think it makes that much difference ?????? ???

I have to say a big yes to that question.

Yes, the engine is small, and the performance on the Solex is really good and fuel economy is superb. Accelleration is good, and due to the lower weight than the Beetle body, it performs very well. However, it does lack "punch" and if trying to really boot it to keep up with others with larger engines, it does give the result of feeling for want of a better description - Dull.  The Weber is so much more responsive, granted its wasted on a 1300, but if you can set it up correctly, I really wouldn`t dismiss it. Solex struggled to pull me and Liz on the Motorway, Webber also allowed us to tow the trailer tent.

Thats the sort of differences I experienced, it really was quite noticeable - just wish I could have set it up better   :-\

Hi all
So I have found this carb on justaircooled. anyone had any experience with one and are they worth the money, or is there a better site to visit for one.

If you are going too spend hard earned money and want to get it right first time, try the link below, I don't think anyone would argue about this as a recommendation.

No doubt a good carb, but isn`t that a bit OTT for a 1300 ?    :-\
