But what is it?
Got the car back today after the a quick cylinder strip and this is what was inside the cylinder, and got stuck between the valves hence it wouldnt turn by hand.  Looks like some kind of jet, but all the jets in the 34ICT are brass, not steel/aluminium....

Any ideas?

If it was stuck in the value it must have come through the carb. Have you had the filter off lately ? Maybe you drop something inside.  I once knocked the brass elbow in the carb off when I had the top off and I didn't notice until it made a ratchet when I started it up. It reminds me of a small bulb.

I had the carbs off and if something went in as there was indentation in the carbon build up on the piston, and this little thing. I haven't seen anything like this so its not something I could have knocked in. I took the carbs completely apart and there wasnt anything that looked like this. Nearest think is the pump jet but thats a hook shape. Everything else inside it was brass.

The pump jet was what I knocked in to my engine.
If you had the carb off maybe its not from the carb but something else that fell in while it was off.
Did you have the carb off before the problem or did you mean you had the carb off after the problem and you were just checking it for missing parts?

what carbs are you running as it kinda looks like a ball valve from a float chamber?

Never thought of that one. But then wouldn't his carb flood?
You might as well pop the top of the carb on that side and check your float needle valve is still there first.

not necessarily but it would be running very rich at least and be as lumpy as hell.

Might explain why its been so troublesome to get the carbs set right if this has been loose and finally broke off......

fortunately  there is no way the needle valve plunger can escape into the engine unless you assembled the carb whilst it was bolted to the engine.
the accelerator pump jet can and does fall down the carb and cause problems.
