I'm not doing anything with them til next year as I am too busy. The Kango is roadworthy now just need to paint the FF body & that can be finished pretty quickly too

One of the Beaujangles has the hard top & screen, one has been cut back on the body behind the seats but there is pretty much 2 complete buggies & one shell.

name changes have been common among the kitcar industry to get cars to sell, when they have changed owners,I can remember it coming out in Kit Car magazine in the early 80's

They were an American kit called the Humbug that Beaujangle imported, modified slightly (dashboard and screen) and then took moulds off, selling it in the UK as the Can Am.

They were a tiny outfit working out of two old stables up a cobbled back-alley in Salford.



IIRC it was introduced in around 1971 or 1972.

I knew it was an old design when it was brought out over here but it was never marketed as a beach buggy, even there if you read the text you can see it was modelled loosely around a class 7 can am racer in the states , hence the low ground clearance and enclosed mechanicals. but it does share a lot of beach buggy attributes.

April 72 was the launch date at a mallory park press day the firm beaujangle sales limited closed in 73.
at 36" high a gt40 looks tall

ok ok its was supposed to be street buggy... well it was in 72 .... when it didn't really sell.... and when it came here it wasn't marketed as a buggy... which is what I said in my original post......
don't get me wrong in the 80's when I first saw one , I liked it and even dreamt of having one but then  my dad took me to see a real beach buggy displayed in a local motor bike shop in Birmingham (val onslow) I was hooked. always wondered what that one was but never got to see it other than thru the window in 79' all I remember was it was orange.

Dunno, not to hand but maybe in the attic. Can't remember if that scan was from an old Custom Car or Cars & Car Conversions. I met the Beaujangle guys at a Belle View M'cr racing car show in early '71 and I remember them telling me about their plans on importing the kit. Things took a lot longer in those days I guess.

There are a couple of threads on Rods n Sods forum about them if you do a search.

Just a note but they never had moulds for the Opus HRF, they owned one and drag raced it though. They had Model T body and pickup bed moulds plus German helmets, bonnet scoops etc.

Is this one of them?  I'm guessing it will be because I think Buggypete had it at the time in 2000, or there abouts.
