Hi - I`m selling my corvair engine currently installed in my split bus. It came over in my van already install from the states but hadn`t been run for a number of years. Its the 110bhp version and all cleaned up now and has freshly rebuilt carbs, all newly serviced and runs pretty sweet.

It has been fitted with a reverse rotation camshaft so will fit straight to the vw gearbox and it comes with a 6v starter motor and bush to fit into a 12v gearbox.

It has compression rating of 145ish on 5 cylinders and 120ish on 1 cylinder (suspected worn ring). Good oil pressure aswell.

I`ll try and get some more pics and maybe a video up in the few days, but heres an older pic during install into my van.

Engine can be seen running and driving in my van - won`t be removed until i find a buyer. I`m in weymouth, dorset, so it can be viewed here - my email is 'emailmikesmith@gmail.com' or phone is 01305834977 or 07961904707

£1950 ono

cheers, mike

Mike, its Ben from VZi and Corvair Center....

Why???!!! You spent ages getting it going etc and I bet it's great in a bus, plus the work you did to the decklid ...

Can't believe you are selling it.

For those wondering, £1950 for a running 110ho engine is a bargain. I'm a good chunk of that into mine and it's still a pile of bits......

Goof luck with the sale bud.

Plus, the reverse rotation gear is $600 on its own. If it's already done, you won't need my gearbox expertise to go forward....

hey ben - thanks for the comments  :)

I`ve just decided that i`m going to put the money towards getting a newly custom built vw engine - i have always wanted one and when i bought the bus, this was my plan until i discovered the corvair engine installed.

Putting the corvair together has been fun and i`m pretty sure it`ll be a few weeks before i get a buyer as i can imagine they`re an aquired taste(!), so i`m getting some use out of it in the meantime.

Who knows - the more i drive it, the less inclined i`ll be to sell it maybe! I`ve been using it loads this last couple of weeks  :)

Cheers, Mike

Hey Mike, welcome on here, but we do have a few rules about items for sale in that you need to be a junior member with a few more posts under your belt.

As you seem to be known to Ben_W, I`ll let this stay here for a while, but if you could get your post count increased before someone else reports this, it might be an idea

Dave, Mike is a good guy. Known him for a while via a couple of other forums. I'll vouch for him!

Don`t worry Ben,

I already know that you won`t allow me to remove anything with the word Corvair in the thread or title

Thanks guys  ;)

Finally got a video and some pics this afternoon. Some pics are slightly older but show how it fits in the vw - there was no trimming required in my van to the sides of the engine at all. Just the rear valance (and in my case, the engine lid)

Here`s a video -
