This is a bit of a long shot but before sell out for new items from Flatlands Eng does anyone have the following for Manx 1 buggy -

16" high Manx style windshiled frame (42" wide I think)- glass not needed - with groove for roof/hardtop lip.

Stainless steel roll bar, with or without seat belt fixings.

If you have bought either of these items and not used them or have them in good or restorable condition please let me know.

Ideally in the UK due to high cost of shipping such large items.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the nuthouse!

Try a message to 'shilly' on here, he may have a roll bar, he did until a few months ago.

Screen on a Manx is 42 1/4" acrosss.

I presume you're building a Manx, any pics of the build?

Hi,

Thanks for screen width info. Yes, early days, planning to do Manx 1, ordered body yesterday so nothing to see for a couple of months. Trying to pick up a few key bits while I wait for the body.

Cool, what colour? Is the Manx 1 mould still 'servicable'? I thought Rob was only moulding Manx 2s these days? Interesting.

I've got a still growing collection of original Manx brackets/fixings etc. (not all pictured) if you need any dimensions.

Note that Flatland's roll bar doesn't mount the same as an original Meyers Manx one.

Probably some sort of green but trying to find something a bit different. Rob is hoping that with a bit of work he may be able to get a half decent body out of the Manx 1 mold. That dash frame looks interesting, may ask you some measurements /pics nearer the time. I will probably have to go will Flatlands for most stuff as I don't have the time to make or source original parts. I like the quality even if not identical to genuine Manx parts.

David, do you happen to have a pic of the lower leg mounting/fixings as i might be able to do the roll bar for laurie as i have a bent bar to your manx measurements, just have never done the mounts.

Sorry, I was not really following this yesterday. Although it looks like this rollbar does not fix to the floor (as with my previous buggies) I assume this is the correct style for the Manx? Showing my ignorance again, but will this fit ok with Rob's hardtops?

Beelzedub - thanks, please let me know if this works out.

There'll always be discusion about the best place to mount the hoop. The traditional British way is to the corner of the floorpan, but in reallity this part of the floor is very weak and only attatched to the main chassis/rear suspension forging by a couple of spot welds. I did mine the Manx way because the roll bar came with the kit, it mounts directly to the chassis but either way a single bar is really only for show and to mount the seatbelts to.

Rob's hardtop will fit fine as long as the bar is made and mounted the correct height.
