Right I have read the V5 sticky and just want some info.

Let's say you have a buggy with a build date of 1987, the V5 states.
Non transferable reg mark.
Declared manufactured 1964.

Make- Volkswagen

Model- 2 axle rigid body.

Its not registered as a Beetle, so I assume that if you had a V5 with this on, it would be legit?

Mods read the thread if you see fit to delete this purely hypothetical question thread fell free to do so

Well ... IMHO (I Stress)

Its not a bad V5 to have so I think it could be OK.
Though if it was built (as a buggy) in 1987 and you have all the MOTs / insurance and any other paperwork to prove it was a buggy all that time (well certainly pre1998 (I think is the key date ?) then that would help the case. Whether SWB or LWB. Is my personal understanding.

But talking PURELY HYPOTHETICALLY if it was for oh I don't know, may be a long wheel base GP Super Buggy for example perhaps..... Then you would be fine anyway, its only really when the buggy is a SWB is when it gets a tad complicated.

That will be fine, strange a mk 1 was registered in 1987 must have been a long build my blue Q plated one states non transferable on the V5c just means I pay road tax.
A lwb has never needed an SVA or IVA just an inspection and 1987 it would have been the the police motorway or stolen vehicle squad doing them before the SVA came in jan 1998.

As long as it doesn't say Beetle or saloon it sounds good to me. If it does say saloon on it then throw a hardtop on it, simples!!!
"Ah, Beach Buggies, sure, just a quick cheap way of getting a few more years out of a rusty Beetle. You can throw one together in a weekend." anon.
