iv bought some screw in studs for my drums as the older ones had a few duff threads etc etc.

ive tired thread lock but once they are screwed in and in place the nuts on and tighten down to torqe them tight the threads on the stud turn in and im fairly sure they are knocking on the drum shoes as they have turned in too far.

i dont want to weld as it will distort the drum and the drums are tapped for m12 so i doubt hammering in press in studs will work well..

any adivce?

ideally the studs should have a shoulder (non thread cut part) to screw up to and tighten against in the drum.

are you using nut lock or stud lock as the stud one is more agressive and holds.

another option is cut a nut in half and use that as a lock nut on the thread inside the drum that with  the thread lock should do it  ( if the surface is flat enough)

My studs have a non threaded part which tightens to the drums/discs.  That plus studlock and they are well secure although I had to use narrow spacers to ensure the wheelnuts then didnt reach the non threaded bit

If you would like some studs with the shoulder, let me know how many and I can send you some @ 50p each +P&P (I still have loads) - they are the same ones that Machine 7 sell at £1.50 - £2.50 each depending on size/length.
P&P is usually the killer here as they are not light!
I have both M12 and M14 40mm studs.
Don't try fitting the press-in ones unless the drums are designed for them, they are splined and you will need a press to install them anyway.
