Rich,

Dont give up dude. After all youve been through of late, giving up aint in your nature............. ;-)up

Stick a standard 1600 in it for now. Will keep it running and you on the road while you decide what engine to shoehorn in next...

Yeah, all good thanks mate. Corvair coming along. Hopefully start the bottom end rebuild in a few weeks. Need to have the rods, pistons, crank, flywheel and pressure plate all balanced first.

Glad to hear its still on the road and driveable.

QuoteOnly two though

Well, two's quite enough I should have thought  :D :D

I wonder why.... Are they 'special bolts'.... How were the threads produced?

Sorry.... Just interested that's all ::)

They are cb H Rods which are supplied with ARP racing bolts. Checked with two torque wrenchs and only torque up once

Thought I recognised them, we use ARP at work, about the best you can get.

Am surprised they did this.... Something else may have promoted the failure then ?

that is well and truly scrap metal. unusual for a big end to fail like that it is possible be that the piston decided not to go down the bore for some reason and the bearing cap got ripped off as the bolts sheared.
what ever an expensive failure.

Mmmm, that occurred to me too....

In amongst all that carnage I wondered if there were still signs that the piston may have seized in the bore...

That is epic.

Super gutting that. Don't give up like the others say.

No seizing of the bores. Engine still turned over by hand in the state it is. No scoring of bores ether. I emailed arp and they want to test the bolts. See what they have to say.

I have already priced up the case and bits in the states plus I have someone who can bring them back over for me.  :)

Well if it is the bolts I hope it wasn't your fault.

You'll get everything paid for then  ;-)up  ;-)up  ;-)up
