A grand total of ONE - wish I could afford more but sadly not. So its all about filming a bit, swapping the camera position, film some more, swapping it again and so forth...

So the clips are not in sequence at all, driving in different directions but since none of you know the roads, in the edit you are none the wiser. its all in the edit!
I will do some filming of the same road over and over again with the different mounts and then edit them together to tie in with road position. When you watch top gear you never see all the cameras mounted but the different clips all fit together seamlessly. OK Im not quite at that level (Thats Jazzy's speciality!) but you get the idea.

Popped up to Skeggy this weekend. Thought I would let the buggy have its annual trip to my mums.

Journey up was fine other than a police traffic car following directly behind me doing 60mph on the A1 for about 5mins. He then breezed past at 70mph on his way. Then a short while later passed a mobile police speed camera van. No problem as I was well within the speed limit, however do remember this is just outside of Kev's (Pilgrim) home town of Boston - dont think I need to say any more. 

Took a few photos, now please remember, its August Bank Holiday and vehicle access is pretty well blocked at all access points to the beach. Plus the sand is way too soft for mine so its not a beach going buggy just yet.

Not so much an update on the buggy (will do that in few days may be) but just another photo - playing with a technique "painting with light" didn't work completely right but will get better at it. Car parked in total darkness outside, shutter open for 30seconds (to get the sky) walk around the buggy shining an led torch on it. - There's a real art to getting the right position to the light. In photoshop just a tweak with exposure and minor change to contrast, though not much and smudge out the parts where the LED torch light leaked towards the camera.

Its actually not that hard to do at all, just takes a bit of practice and I certainly need to play more at it. For those of you not on my Facebook, here is what you do and the link below is a youtube video from a guy who shows how its done.

Park the car up in the dark, pop the camera on a tripod (try to focus in the dark!) Oh make sure everything is set to Manual.
In this case I had set ISO100, shutter on 30seconds and aperture at f11 but varied it. If you don't have a remote or cable release, use the self timer option on the camera.

Then whilst the shutter is open, whilst in pitch black, walk around the buggy with a torch (I used an LED one, but any will do) BUT you must avoid letting any light from the torch getting to the camera - its a lot harder than you think - you will see more of that in the video. I still got some so had to dodge it out in photoshop.

Once I have the photos, in photoshop I just altered the exposure by 1 stop (tech term) but you may not need to - its only personal choice - likewise with contrast and saturation. Only tiny tiny amounts needed. Oh and got rid of those light marks I mentioned. Seriously its not hard But takes a bit of practice - just go and have a play!!! (I will try the softbox next time plus do some in the barn (like the example in the barn), plus next time I will do a shot without a torch and mask that photo with the one with the light to create a better sky shot.

Ok this is a long one, so no worries if you want to skip it

Time for another update I reckon. So since last update, I've sorted out the front suspension and tracking on the front. The front tyres were a few degrees out and the wear on the front tyres was shocking, plus the ride on the front was rough. So tracking and camber sorted on the front plus new shocks and tyres and raised the front height a smidge. Made a world of difference to the ride on the front. Got them fixed in time for a couple of likely lads to  borrow the buggy for the day... More on that story another day soon may be.



It's been great driving the buggy over the winter months, first time in many years. Even in the cold you can't help but smile! During this time though noticed the battery tray which is under the dashboard, welded to the metal cross frame was loose. Two of the 4 supports had broken off, so to keep me on the road a bit longer, a block of wood supported it from below (crazy I know!)

Anyway, time to do that and a few other winter jobs, so a fortnight ago, headed to the workshop of my friend Spike at The House of Dub. Once I had stripped the pods, bonnet and screen off, we could get to the tray and a quick welding job and it's better than new! Drove it home, got a bit muddy



This weekends job was that the rear suspension. I had already replaced the rear shocks the other week at home but desperately need to raise the back end and fix that camber.  As you can see before I was riding on the bump stops. So wheels and exhaust off and adjusted the plates by 1 outer spline. All went well very easily really. Though rolled it back and forth a little, it has not settled to its final resting height but is looking much better so far.

Whilst the drums were off (undoing the handbrake cable) noticed on one side, one of the shoes is really worn, so now I need to pick some up from the local GSF store. In the meantime, I better get the exhaust and the back end cleaned and polished for the coming season.

Plus am sorting out the angle of my rear indicators (you know, the LED, direct sunlight, angle of light stuff). Did have some clever ideas in mind but now have a wonderfully simple solution. Oh and a few other tweaks up my sleeve too...
