From what i hear  ( please dont shoot me down if wrong ) This year at bug jam when you are in, you are in and must stay until you leave to go home,. Forcing people to use the on site facilities  .

Yup they have indeed stopped you from going off site during the event to stop the inevitable bringing your mates in for free malarky.  Its got so big over the years that 2 years ago they actuall turned people away with tickets as they had over sold on the gates 

Bug Jam has always drawn the rave scene crowd in from its very beginnings. (it was started in the early 90's when rave was taking off big time after all and is situated in a big field).  I and several of my close friends have been going since it started and there was a downward spiral for a few years with the likes of Billy Nova and Kevin Escort turning up and ruining the weekend.  These were sorted fairly swiftly with a stern talking to  . We now go on the Club camping side of the event which is much calmer than cattle class and has a curfew on noise being made after a certain time which keep the kiddies happy that are in bed.  We enjoy ourselves when we go as well as all the other events like: VW Action, European Bugin, Stanford Hall, Volkworld Show, Vanfest/Busfest, Dubs at the Hall,  Peepercorn, Whitenoise, Dubs at the castle, Van jamboree, Viva Skeg vegas and a load of other smaller shows for day trips. 

All these shows we meet up with fellow dubbers and have a good weekend, but as we have grown older we have calmed down and wander round the sites chatting dub stuff and meeting liked minders whilst taking in a few beers of course    As with everything thou over the years the amount of us that go has dwindled due to family circumstances and generally getting older and wiser in some cases.

The offroad track is used a fair amount at the weekend and is always a good place to sit and watch some loons in Bajas or Buggys bouncing around and getting muddy or dusty.  Along with some blisteringly quick buggies on the drag strip that are always worth a watch for wheelie prowess 

Then after after dark you get to go out and listen to some music,  this year the Hoosiers and Toploader are headlining the main stage.  Then theres a  Big Wig Disco in the Fuellers bar (always a good laugh) then when all that's finished off to the dance tent till 2am for Dave Pearces dance anthems (or off to bed)

Sunday is just for the racing, digging through the autojumble and of course the jetcar which always puts a smile on my face every year. 

So Aaron,  If you're going down there alone for the weekend give me a shout and we'll meet up. 

Hopefully I am going with my nephew but not sure if i will be in the buggy.
Will confirm later and hopefully I can put some faces to names

Well who is going to manage to turn out to this one ? i will be there camping as usual,will give the war & peace show a miss this year.

Well reading all that about the jam has put me off big time,dont like druggies,or tw.t teenagers, and to top it all i think the groups appearing are crap! notice i dont mince my words lol. so i think i will get in touch with hazel about news meet,thanks for the info guys,probably saved me from tw.tting a tw.t!

And that's the problem with people slagging
Off shows and there's a lot of people that
Say it's a great show if you want drugs you would have
To go and look for them they won't just
Full in your lap

I think everybody SHOULD go to Bug Jam at least a few times to experience it.

Yes, there are a lot of drugs about, but this is no different to a saturday night in your local town - you can say no, and have a good time without them.

Can I suggest that you guys who are going should meet up down the road and arrive together, as that way you get to camp together, and a weekend with beer / mates / music is worth doing, wherever it may be

Yes fair comment from both of you,but i just cant handle that scene now,prob getting a little older and me and the mrs like to have a full nights kip without the throbbing music, and some a..h....s near us without no considaration for others giving it large in any way to the early hours awake cos there tripping thinking its big,i would get in trouble!

Important "heads up" for anyone going to Bug Jam for the first time though - they are usually very strict about glass bottles, and it is not uncommon for them to search cars on the way in and confiscate any alcohol that is in glass. Beer, spirits etc etc.

Just make sure that whatever you take to drink is in tins or plastic, and mind the drunken security staff on the way out.

Got my weekend tickets today.
I have been going on and off since number 2,the only trouble I have had is someone tripped over a tent guide rope one night and they even gave out some sort of drunken apology shout.
Looking forward to it, if anyone wants to meet up give us a shout be nice to meet a few people over a beer :-)

As a bonus there is a buggy build going in from Fri to Sunday. Same as they have done with campers for the last 2 years. Interesting.
