Lol i planned 9 but then decided I had enough in savings to take the full 12 months (last 3 months unpaid) and then had 2 months worth of owed annual leave

I worked in the construction industry, away from home weekdays and often weekends. This back in 1983 when my son was due. Things were very different. My wife was given a two week timeline and I had one option only -  book my 2 week annual holiday entitlement to cover this two week period and hope for the best. No extra time off. No unpaid time off available to me.
What a nerve wracking two week period that was. My son was born 10 days into the two week period so I did get to have a few days with them both.

Oh wow stressful!    I thought as she's my last, 2 is plenty, I'd make the most of it this time around
