Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the forum, I'm after some engine advice.
I have a MK1 GP buggy, but somebody has fitted a type 4/T25 engine.
Would I be able to fit a beetle engine or would I need to change the gearbox?
I'm finding it difficult to get a type 4/T 25 engine.
If anyone could give me some advice, I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks, Simon

It`s a Hi from me.
The type 4 engine in anything but scrap condition are now really hard to get hold of. I am sure someone on here will be along to answer your question.

Welcome aboard

Do you have a T25 engine and looking to get repaired, or engine missing and told thats what was fitted?   ???

The T25 engine had a modified flywheel to fit the standard Beetle Gearbox but other than that its a relatively easy swap, but you will need all the extras  such as exhaust, carbs and tinware depending on which route you went down.

Plenty of help on here though    ;-)up

i would stick with the type 4 engine loads better than a type 1   probably alot easier to find a good type 4 as they were made till 83  and lots about in cheap t3 vans      but the earlier car  engined type 4    are the best of the bunch

I don't really understand the question? You say someone has fitted a type 4 but want  type 4???
Mine had a type 1 in it and all i did was change the wiring for the alternator other than that and the flywheel bearing they slot straight on a type 1 gearbox.
