Sue and I have made contact with a campsite which is 5 min drive to Swanage Town, thanks to Tim for info, the site website is "herstonyardsfarm.com" the charges are Thurs £30, Fri/ Sat & Sun £35/night, they have an overflow campsite that can be reserved solely for us, we just need to give numbers closer to the time. How does this sound to you all.

The football club must have an idea on the demolition start date which should be soon after the seasons matches finish I would think and the demolition should not take long it only needs to be down and the balcony area clear for access. But good news you have a back up plan.

There is no start date yet for the work to commence, which is screwing things up

Per pitch or per person, and what about multiple cars for those towing one?   :-\

Per pitch, there was no mention of a charge for extra vehicle, we did explain the situation with regard to the carnival.

Could be a very quiet year with the costings and no clubhouse for the evening events. If there is no start date for the work it may not even happen the council, swanage fc and the demolition lot need to get organised with a work schedule.

Spoke with Mark tonight.
The camping is price is per pitch so is cheaper per head depending on how many are in the tent / camper etc.
The site does have a bar, cafe and restaurant plus potentially other food vendors and is just a 15 minute walk into Swanage.
I took a quick look tonight and for those that know Swangae, the camp site is basically behind the petrol station by the hump back bridge on the way inot town.

Can anyone find any more info / pictures of this as struggling to find anything on Google or even their own website   :-\

Only pictures I have found so far make it look in a similar state to the football ground, with similar sort of very mixed reviews (no locks on toilet doors etc) Access down the narrow lane is also mentioned a lot for those towing anything.

Dave, I understand several of the Midlands crew stayed there last year and have booked again this year, hopefully they will give their insight, but I have tried to find other sites within a reasonable distance of the town with no luck, feel free to look yourself and report back, as we don't need to give numbers until nearer the time I'm still hoping that the demolition work at the football club will start and finish before then, but I have to assume the worst case. As I said if anyone has an alternative site let me know, cheers.

The Wareham site  whilst one of the nicest I have stayed at is probably a little far out of town - agreed  :'(

Fairly sure I stayed in a campsite many moons ago that was just on the edge of town when heading out to the Chain Ferry - Quite a large one that also let us in there with boats on Trailers (you think Car Clubs are a nightmare, try booking that one) Not sure if even still there now?

Looks on google to possibly be in the area of Ulwell Holiday Park, but that also looks a bit posher than I remember - may be worth a thought to see if they have an overflow field we can use for the Carnival though?

Camp sites do not as a rule like car clubs or groups which is why Ashbourne Common End has been used as an annual place, the owners like us and give an exclusive discount of 10% and this year have offered us more accommodation. Still cannot believe with an approx 8 week closed season that they have no idea of the start date as they will need to start training before the new season starts.

Is organising a couple of building site type toilets and a shower one if they do them an option ?
We could probably still stay at the football club then if we don't need / use the building  ?? ;-)(-;
