Anyhoo,
I have managed to start stripping down my 1500 engine.  When I bought the project apal swb buggy the engine would rotate 180 degrees but hit something internally.   Not valves but something!
I have removed the cylinder heads but cannot get the barrels off the pistons. Studs have been removed and I don't need the barrels as will replace.  Are there any tricks to this?

If the motor turns on the flywheel nut they move and come off if not as they are scrap  alternate hammer  shock from top and bottom onto the fins in the direction of pulling them off, they should start to wobble a bit as they come loose from the case.

Stuck cylinder heads and barrels were fairly common way back when I was a lad. The main factor to un-seize/free off was patience. Many a mechanic would create plates that would fit to the studs and had bolts going down over to push off head etc. The secret was to soak in penetrating oil. Leave overnight. Give the bolt a slight turn to tighten and then a slight untightening. Leave and untighten a half turn. Leave overnight. Often took weeks. Sometime months but the heads/barrels came free of the pistons/piston rings. Often this was necessary on vehicles that replacement heads etc were no longer available.
Obviously anyone nowadays isn`t going to take this extreme patient method but you can dump diesel, penetrating oil etc down a bore and leave it for 48 hrs. Most will free up. (This may not work if there is impact damage to a bore).

Diesel/atf mix, or just beak em off with hammer and chisel
