After well over 30 years involved in air cooled VWs, a long held ambition is finally happening, my first buggy build.
The beetle in the garage is my 6th, one of a line of VWs which has included two splits, a bay and a Karmann Ghia.
After hearing so many horror stories about the IVA I've decided on a lwb GT shell from East Coast buggies (deposit paid, 8-9 weeks lead time). Engine is sorted, 1776 with twin Dells and sidewinder exhaust. Beetle in the garage and slowly getting stripped is a '72 1300.
I can't wait to get started on it properly, also hoping to get up to a Rose and Crown meet or two for some real inspiration.

Good news there Dougie, we are at the R & C this thursday so will be some buggies there but next month it may be moving to a Friday as it suits some better with work.

Just make sure you keep the chassis, floors etc absolutely standard to avoid IVA test even down to not drilling any extra holes until the build is well under way and the document description have been changed.

Photos of the donor Bug showing number plates etc may help also.

Sounds like it's going to be a great buggy.

It`s a hi from me...  Put my buggy thro IVA.... it`s not that difficult just more dollars than non IVA
