Hi guys

As many of you know I am building a sand rail buggy. I would like to do it properly, first time.

Any help would be great on:

1300 tp / 1600 tp ??
1300 / 1500 ??
1300 / 1600 / Ghia gearbox ??

Wheels seem to be a nightmare. I want some small fronts and large rear, but all need to match. They seem to do a lot of wheels in the USA but they seem scarce here. Any good links would be useful.

I have sourced a Chassis and am having it restored, just need to know all of your experience on the bolt on bits

Thanks

Mark

the only way round the nightmare i think, is to find the wheels you like and get blank drums or disks drilled to suite the PCD you require
I'm in my buggy,
It's raining,
I really don't care.

if you want to go large on the rear tyres anything over 31" diameter needs a 1200/1300 box with the 4.37 diff or you run into problems with low engine speed in top gear and bogging down.
1500 single port motors have better torque but the 1600 twin port is more tweekable for speed it depends what your requirement and budget is.
wheels are a web search  for what you like and as Shaggy says you may need adaptors or hubs to suit.

email billybob (darren), hes on here check the member names.
he used to build them for a living, exported them aswell having them shown at volksworld, one when off to dubai I think it was,
Ive posted one of his builds in the buggy of the day thread.
hes also did a build off against flatlands on Tow'd buggy for the volksworld show, both buggies were brilliant.
if you cant find it give me a shout.

Good advice if you are running 33s.    One thing I would say, doing 70 in a rail is nothing like doing 70 in a buggy.   It is a LOT more elemental. - Unless you are wearing a crash helmet.
I am a MASSIVE bender...  Tubes of course.

wheels arn,t too much of a problem depends on what style you want,i,d go with 1200/1300 gearbox, and 1500/1600/1641 engine.make everything vibration and damp proof.and a good helmet or goggles .BEE,S in the face a t 60mph hurts :(.currently building my 12th rail.
