SWB Manx/Classic Manx Buggy

Preferably as basic as possible but all considered, budget in place for right car. Would consider project but not looking to start from scratch this time around.

Must be registered correctly, no mention of Beetle or Saloon please - personal preference so not looking to offend.

What sort of budget are you playing around with?

Does it have to be Manx, or are you open to other body styles?

Going buy recent sales (kicking myself for missing Orange Manx) I'd say £7-10k but very much depends on car....

Something to ponder re-Manx....  I knew before buying my Manx body kit, which was laid up at a firm in Portugal, that the body tub is not asymetrical. Still surprised when I saw it. The body, one side compared to another etc, is really way out in being identical dimension wise.
Add this to the natural curing which goes on for years and it becomes more obvious. Does this matter..... not to me as I think the Manx epitomises the Beach Buggy shape.

It's been fixed now, the new owners of Meyers Manx have completely retooled so that the new kit is now completely symetrical and even the bonnet is a neat fit without the need for beading. Unfortunately permission for the authorized copies from Portugal and Australia has been withdrawn.

It's odd that none of the Manx copiers, GP etc and none of the copiers of copies ever fixed the lob sided issue.

1969 (H reg) built on a '59 link pin chassis, I think it got its H reg when it was converted.

Tax exempt obviously.
MOT exempt as well (yes I do know and understand the rules)
1600 TP engine starts and runs well pulls well.
Full soft top.
Currently declared SORN. I'm gutted to be even offering it for sale because I know I'll never find another with its history and provenance but I never seem to use it.

I'd heard the Portugal Manx's were pretty wonky....are the UK Hubbard > East Coast the same?

They're all a bit wonky but you know it's fine. The original Manx was wonky and 90% of other buggies are close copies so are just the same. My Mel Hubbard original, the second out of the mould is about an inch pit at the rear and Rob is still using the same mould but it's fine. Bruce was an artist before he was an engineer.

Even top-dollar, pro-built Manxters are 'on the wonk'
