Hi all,

Recently picked this up. Quick 4 hour drive home in rubbish weather followed by a bit of fettling.

Removed the stickers, did a engine tune-plugs, HT leads, coil, dizzy, electronic ignition and some wiring tidied up.

Have a few more jobs to do over the coming weeks.. Here are some pics so far.

Have driven aircooleds for years. My baja was a 50 mile a day job for 4 years straight, rain or snow. A few people know my dad, Stuart, who's had a few buggies over the years so always had the passion for these classic vws.

Point of order/recommendation - Your exposed air filter will be letting the rain into your engine.
I had the same filters on my baja, and although they were under the cowl they still managed to let water in when it had been stood a few years.
Corrosion on the valves , corrosion in the cylinder bores, water in the sump.
