If the MOT advisory was just the obscured number plate then if you sort that out you ought to be OK.

Clem has a good point about bike exhausts, only real difference is that anyone crossing the road behind a bike in traffic cant touch the hot bits easily. You have a cage on, that should stop accidental burns, if anyone is then stupid enough to stick their hand in - well.

Get the plate sorted and you have a reason to get stopped so probably wont.

I have always thought putting a danger/caution sign on would mean you recognise there is a problem and that helps point it out to the plod by telling them about something they may not even consider as dangerous.

i'd also guess that in your typical 'I burnt my fingers so its a 'no win no fee' court case
the signage would surely be seen as an admission of guilt
as you must of accepted there was a risk to someone to of put it there
