Believe my rear alloys (Centerlines) are now porous. Only run 22 psi, down to less than 10. Confirmed during this weeks bad weather.
Questions:
Can I fit inner tubes (275/60/15).
If I get the internal rim powder coated will this help.
Thanks.
Paul

immerse them in water to check for bubbles the beads and valves can leak just to confirm your suspicions, thinking Dave had his wolfrace powder coated to stop leaks.

I certainly did - I had a pair of slot mags that just would not keep air in for more than a few weeks, had them powder coated and never looked back

Thanks all.
Think I'm where Dave was. Guess they just masked the outer rim before powder coating  :-\

Is an inner tube an option .

Hi Paul, yes you can run with inner tubes but don't go below 18psi or you might rip the valves out on a fast start. You will have fun finding this size now though, they are rarer than the tyres this size  :D :D

Thanks Rob. Worried powder coating won't work.
Will give my local contact a call for an inner tube.
Thanks  ;-)up

If the rears are genuine centerlines then they are a 2 piece, if so do not powder coat or run tubes which aren't a good idea IMHO.
Take them to a tyre fitter and get them re-sealed with the black rubber goop they use when they have drama getting a tyre to seal on an alloy bead.
It works.

tyre places will not fit tubes in tubeless tyres as they are rough inside and will rub with use and could fail, tubed tyres are smooth inside.

I have Tubes in my Centrtelines on the Beetle with tubeless tyres. Local tyre fiiters are really good never had any issues since tubes fitted.

Are they genuine 2 piece split centrelines?
If so I can't see any reason to run tubes as long as the centre joint is sealed.

Flags. Good tip. Removed all the old mastic from the 'split'. Cleaned rims, then reapplied the mastic.
Holding pressure now  ;-)up
