VW Convertible is a brilliant one to have as it does not distinguish between LWB and SWB, so if thats what the V5 said, then I personally would be repairing the chassis, as the blood sweat and tears are insignificant compared to getting that wording from the powers that be.

So, to put us out of our misery, what does the V5 actually say?   

Try all you can to avoid the "aftermarket" frame head. It is rubbish and not fit for purpose. You will often see on ebay chassis offered for sale with the frame head chopped off. This is almost certainly because someone has needed a decent original section and has found something usable.

Mine says "Beetle Saloon" I'm intending to build a LWB and to get it changed if possible.

A re-body so a lwb with all original spec running rear will get a change to convertible like Matts Manx recently. Time to start a build thread
