Hi, I hope someone can help, the gearbox that came on my chassis has a very long shaft sticking out, compared to other vw gearboxes i have seen. It appears to be connected to diff as wheels and shaft turn when a gear is selected, just wondered if previous owner has connected it wrong, or they made different lengths, can anyone throw any light on this? Thanks, Neil .

it has had an alternative engine fitted and the input shaft has been changed to suit it, What is the gearbox code ? it needs the side plate taking off to access the circlip to replace it with a standard one. There are vidoes on you tube and alike with the process.

If your beetle disc goes on it will be for a 411 412 type 4 motor.
