Nothing to do today as had the carb off twice yesterday a it would not idle after a tune up. Now incorrctly set but should be driveable as the mixture screw is an extra 3/4 turn out so the 31 pict 2 carb could be a 1300 one but the jet sizes are illegible and it has a fixed jet not a shut off valve so is non standard and was also very dirty inside.
Now stood awaiting my mot man to collect it as he can just about fit in and srive it to the test station but that is next Wednesday, shame it is not down as historic already .

Sounded ok going up the road to the mot test but the tester said it was a bit of a bum clencher with the narrow bucket seats so hoping he survives the 7 mile drive.
Another car not changed to historic on the V5 so you cannot tax it at the post office without paying and the mot may not show on DVLA site for up to two days.
A suggestion, if you have PCLG on a pre 1978 V5 send it off to get it changed to historic whilst the buggy is off the road then putting it back on the road will be easier and faster.

Not sure I agree with that one, as any amendments made whilst the vehicle is "Off the road" can often raise more concerns about what is being done to the vehicle whilst sorned. At the moment, there is a classification that DVLA have of reconstructed classics, I have no clear idea of any ramifications regarding this or whether its a way of revoking any status by saying that they have been restored - its right up there with only changing one thing at a time on the V5.

Although a right pain in the bum, I personally would MOT and tax it, and then change the status and claim a refund.

If it is insured you can apply for historic status and tax at the same time by post so they would see it as on the road anyway, this jas has been insured for nearly 2 weeks now and unusable as it it pclg so needs an mot.

Passed an mot yesterday afternoon after Ed's Autos collected it in the morning due to me being unable to sit in it.
Had a drive up to the Ninjas hide out and collected him as I could not drive it to him so now back with a happy owner who did 40 of the 60 miles home happily before a choke failure caused it to retain high rpm and left him tool less trying to wedge the fast idle step cam upright to continue driving home.

cannot believe somebody bolted a motor in with a worn out clutch, a sensible thing to check or renew before assembly but that is why I normally like a good test drive.
still both easy fixes for you and you can get in and out with the top on so get some miles in.
