Would I be right in the assumption that as the Mantaray had a wheelbase of 78.5, a GP or Predator body with a wheelbase of 78.75, so 1/4" difference, would fit on the Mantaray chassis?

The odd 1/4 inch of so won't make any difference but there's no guarantee that any body will fit exactly on a pre shortened chassis as fibreglass can grow, shrink and warp over the years. Close enough is good enough as they can all be tugged and pulled into shape if need be.
