Forgive me,i am a keen Bugger,,,but. I also have a beetle, it made a horrible whining noise like a morris minor when i changed down a gear, using to reduse speed. Today i started up to move from garage for a clean the whining noise was there already, put clutch in,,,,, gone. Repeated a few times,,,,same. Any ideas folks. After cleaning i was going to check the gearbox leval. Could it be something else. :-[

Braked a frames are cheap as chips on ebay ! Sellers seem to think they are car specific, they ain't. The braking is easyer than you think. All it is ,is the handbrake breakaway cable tied around the foot brake in car, tensioned fairly accurately. Important thing to remember is to leave key in to hold steering lock off ! I don't bother with the brakes, looks the part, just hope you don't get stopped by jobsworth.2 eyelets on your front beam, any crap welder could do is all you need so make sure you get the 2foot long rod with it. ;-)up

Beach Buggy General Help / breather pipe
« on: June 05, 2016, 09:36:05 PM »
It's about time i sorted out this. Does anyone know of a small oneway/check valve i can get to go in the end of my fuel breather pipe ? It currently hangs down under the car,not a problem but fuel can pour out when full or going round roundabouts trailing under my hot engine. A friend suggested a tyre valve stuffed in there but i fancy summit more proper,I've grown out of cheap bodge and make do.
