One of these is sitting in it's shiny blister pack in the box o' bits that came with the rail and it was on the list to install. Now binned.

Yea I had that in mind too, a friend might be swapping his out (along with his engine!) or I might get a couple of bike silencers. Also going to try some home made baffles. Cheap is the key here !

Thanks Pete I'll check it out

Not sure, is the Q is related to tax?

According to here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/513151/INF34_080316.pdf If I can prove it was made or built before 76 then I'm in luck. Have to wait and see what the V5 says - when I get it, seller has been a little tardy sending off the paperwork...

Hopefully the member with the tax exempt Fug will chime in!

No idea, I know the Q plate represents "year unknown"
"DVLA issues Q registration numbers to vehicles whose age or identity is in doubt."  Have not looked at the whole tax exemption thing, it was first registered in 84.

Not sure why you think I want to lose the Q plate ? It's a huge benefit - lots of MOT exemptions to make life easier!

My Fugitive Sandrail came with some fairly loud cannons on it.  Want something quieter. The Empi stuff is so bad it gives cheap Chinese junk a bad name, but then there is a jump to loads a money for stainless.  Anyone got anything in between ideally 4-2-1 I can probably make most things fit, it is a rail after all.

Cannons also available part ex. ASBO not included!

Beach Buggy Electrical Help / Re: switch suggestion

Don't know if you sorted this but what you want is a "DNI 0127" relay.

Basically it means that you can use the indicator pull on the stalk Or any other momentary switch to earth) to flash your lights when the lights are off or cycle between full/dip when they are on. Instructions are here or google  http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/at113a.htm

On mine the brown/white and the brown are from the pull stalk - looking at the construction I think they are supposed to be isolated but on mine the insulation had gone so I just made that brown earth anyway

HTH.

Posted an intro/story so far over on the muddy board http://bajaclub.co.uk/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2404

Got this Fugitive a few weeks ago as a non runner and the aim is to get it MOT'd before the sun stops shining, then look at a new engine in the winter. AFAIK it has never been on the road, registered in 84 on a Q (yay, no emissions!) one MOT in 2014, no tax ever.

Now it is running though missing (new plugs and leads to be installed)  still I needed to get the electrics working, somehow I didn't think that this was going to pass:

So I ripped it out

and built this

Which has nice things like a working horn, indicators and sidelights!
Any market for crusty old original VW speedos?

Next on the MOT agenda is new boots on the front ball joints, a rear number plate light (oh and a number plate!), battery tray, bolt up the speedo sensor and no doubt a few things I will discover on the way. Then insurance and tax - I note a member was talking about his Fug being exempt, must look into that as mine has never had any apparently...

If you do change the twin canons for something else and they are in good nick, stick them on the for sale section.

Will do though as the choice seems to be limited I will probably wait until I have fully explored the Meazle option. Meanwhile going to make some baffles.

Yep that makes 2 on this little isle.

Just acquired a Fug II VW based - for now. Only ever had 1 MOT previously, bought as a non-runner needs a bit of TLC.

Posting a re-build thread on the muddy forum, but it seems shiney has all the action at the moment! :)

Pick up day about 6 weeks ago..
