I know what you did last Summer . . . / N.E.W.S. 2018 Buggies in the middle 13, 14, 15th July 2018
« on: January 28, 2018, 12:58:26 PM »
N.E.W.S. 2018 The event where the North, East, West and South get together in the Middle.
N.E.W.S. is a chilled out beach buggy oriented weekend to bring like-minded people from around the UK to camp, cruise and undoubtedly get a little silly. N.E.W.S. is one of those camping weekends, where we all get together and have a real laugh and a bit of fun. There is usually a really good cruise (if I do say so myself) around some stunning scenery, and topped off by a few bevvies and laughs in the evening.
Date: 13, 14, 15th July 2018
You know the drill ^^
Anyway…
Where will it be this year?? I’m thinking of moving the event (everyone tells me that was the point of the weekend after all) to the Halfway House in Shropshire for a change in scenery. http://halfwayhouseinn.co.uk
I have spoken with the landlord and taken a visit to the pub, they are happy to have us and there are numerous electrical hook up since that is becoming more and more of a need. We’re negotiating a price depending on the weekend and the numbers but it will hopefully work out at £20 per EHU per night and £16 per pitch.
There are showers, washing up facilities and the usual expectation when it comes to camping… They make a point of saying they allow mother-in-laws and dogs (so long as they are kept on lead). They are happy to do an on-mass breakfast and cheaper on-mass dinner (perhaps similar to the curry night we had at the Gate Hangs High).

If you would like to come along and these (rough) details sound agreeable let me know. MAKE A LIST TIME!!
I would also like to know your thoughts on the possibility moving the weekend to August? As I’m personally unsure about getting time off for my own event.

This year we will be staying at Lower Lode Inn again, which is where we camped in 2013.

I have booked and paid for the campsite that offers 10 electrical hook ups (hopefully enough this year) and should take another 15 'normal' pitches, which I am able to offer to you more cheaply than advertised on their website. There are also a number of rooms if others would like to book a bed.
Grass pitch with electric hookup (10 available) £21 per weekend
Grass pitch with no electric hookup £15 per weekend
If you would like to come along please let me know and if you would like to pay for your pitch my paypal is hazelbuller@hotmail.co.uk
Well behaved pets are most welcome.
Commemorative Stickers
There will be commemorative decals to remember the event, all proceeds to go to Alzhiemer's Society
Meals
BBQ, Curry night - what do you want?
Friday night
-Another quiz?
-Bingo?
-Music
The Cruise - Saturday
Likely set off at 11am from the pub on the Saturday to do our cruise. If you want to come along on the cruise you are more than welcome but please let me know so I know roughly how many buggies to count for. There will of course be a photo stop or two to line up all the buggies.

I know what you did last Summer . . . / MBC goes to Greece - 5th January 2017
« on: September 26, 2016, 03:44:07 PM »
As Chad posted before, but has since been deleted.
5th January 2017 - Zorbas
359-361 Olton Boulevard East, Solihull, B27 7DP

We are thinking of putting on a Charity meal to celebrate the sheer support and amount raised for Pier Pressure (and perhaps raise a final few final coffers for the cause! Zorbas is a Greek restaurant in Solihull about 6 miles north from our usually MBC meeting place and after speaking with them would be more than happy to host the event and offer a set 2 course menu that will allow us to raise something for Pier Pressure as well. If there are any suggestions on how we can make this night even more special let us know. There are a few birthdays around this time as well, so much merriment and celebrating will be had!! This doesn't need to be an MBC or even a buggy exclusive event at all - in fact, the more the merrier! Lets get everyone who had a part to play involved and tuck into some delicious food! Om nom nom.

VW Parts For Sale / Worn Firestone tyres 196 60 15
« on: September 06, 2016, 08:56:29 PM »
I've got 2x pretty worn Firestone tyres - 196 60 15 going spare for someone to use for a rolling project if anyone wants them? Perhaps in exchange for some beer tokens? At the last MBC meet, some said I could get at least another 1000-odd miles out of them, others said they should definitely be changed. You decide.

I know what you did last Summer . . . / Wythall Carnival - Sunday 14th August
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:45:55 PM »Bit of a classic car meet up at Wythall Carnival last year, perhaps a bit of an excuse for a weekend MBC meet up in the sun?
Not to far from our usual meet up

Toyz For Sale / (another) Trailer Tent (testing the water)
« on: May 29, 2016, 01:13:42 PM »
Looks like we are all trying to sell our trailer tents this year.
I got this one at the end of summer last year and haven't actually had a chance to use it - can bring it to NEWS for anyone who would like it.
2 man trailer tent, bit rough around the edges
Very light, I don't have a trailer license but I can tow it (can't remember exact weight)
Comes with the outside awning thingy if you want to put it up an have even more space
Would anyone take it of our hands at £300?

I know what you did last Summer . . . / Milton Keynes - Monthly Classic Vehicle Meet (1st Friday)
« on: May 20, 2016, 11:40:36 AM »
Milton Keynes
Monthly Classic Vehicle Meet (1st Friday)
May-Sep, 1st Friday 6:30-7:30pm
Oct-Apr, 1st Sunday noon-1:00pm
The Prince George, Portishead Drive,Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes, MK4 3FA
http://www.mkccc.com/
So last year a few of us Midland folk took a trip to Milton Keynes, I'm tempted to do the trip again so I found this classic car meet which would be a good excuse and an opportunity to meet up with Fran and a few others
Avoiding the motorway, it looks like a scenic route to go through Henley in Arden, the outskirts of Stratford upon Avon and through Banbury.
Is anyone up for it? The weather is looking good for the 3rd of June

I know what you did last Summer . . . / N.E.W.S. 2016 July 8th/9th/10th (a chilled buggy weekend in the middle)
« on: September 14, 2015, 09:24:27 PM »
The event where the North, East, West and South get together in the Middle.
N.E.W.S. is a chilled out beach buggy oriented weekend to bring like-minded people from around the UK to camp, cruise and undoubtedly get a little silly.
Date: 8/9/10th July 2016
Location: The Gate Hangs High, Banbury
Well behaved pets are most welcome.
The Venue
The Gate Hangs High is a homely pub with a campsite situated in Hook Norton near Banbury and Chipping Norton. The cruise hopes to include sites though Chipping Norton, Banbury and beyond.
Prices are cheap, at only £10 tent and £15 electric hook up for both the Friday and Saturday night together.
All the hooks ups are already provisionally accounted for - TBC.
Commemorative Stickers
Currently, I'm unsure whether to arrange for any commemorative stickers to remember the weekend by this year as interest in them seemed to be lower than previous years- so maybe we can find another way to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society? If you could like a sticker, please say and if you have any suggestions of other ways to raise some money for the charity, again, please say…
The Cruise - Saturday
I think we’ll aim to set of at 11am from the pub on the Saturday to do our cruise around Banbury and the surrounding area. It won’t be as long as last year… If you want to come along on the cruise you are more than welcome but please let me know so I know roughly how many buggies to count for. There will of course be a photo stop or two to line up all the buggies. It was suggested, last year that we got a shot outside of the Brewery, but that would need to be on the Friday really.
Breakfasts, meals & Curry/BBQ night - Saturday night
The pub are happy to cook up breakfasts each morning, and it is useful if you could let the guys at the pub know a number the night before. It is beneficial to book a table. If you would like another (cheaper alternative to the main menu) curry night, that can be arranged. A BBQ is another possibility but it’s really up to you guys.
Hook Norton Brewery Tour - Friday
Last year we had our own exclusive tour around the Hook Norton Brewer which we can do again if popular enough. On Friday the tour times are 11.00am and 2.00pm, but everyone has their commitments and may not be able to get there that early - so if we have a group of 10 or more people, we can have a later tour to ourselves. Also if you arrive early enough you’ll see the Shire horses delivering Hooky beer to the pub for us!
Open Tap Take Over - Thursday night
On the second Thursday of the month, at the Hook Norton Brewery they have an Open Tap Takeover which is a free event, to go along and have a chat with the brewers, try new beer from Crafty Ales and remind yourself of the traditional Hooky favourites - so if anyone did want to take advantage of this and stay and extra night it would be an additional £5 for camping.
Other activities on the Thursday
If you did want to get their a day early and pitch up to take advantage of the open tap take over - I guess we’ll need to organise some fun and games to keep ourselves amused on the Thursday - suggestions?
