Hi all never done a write up before so here goes
I have had a couple of buggys about twenty odd years ago and its been bugging me for a couple of years now to build a new one.
So one day I found myself passing Kingfisher Kustoms while doing a work job in West Bromwich, so into the car park, i went.
As walking in, there mounted on the wall was a swb buggy bodyshell. After speaking to Dave Fisher and his merry men a deposit was put down. Next job was to find a doner vehicle, a day later I found one on fleebay for 800 quid. A week later the doner arrived

Within a weekend the body  was off the chassis and sold for 200 and over the comming week, the chassis was striped down and sent off the Kingfishers for shortening. With nothing else to do it was time to shop around and get all the rest of the doner bits sorted (brakes, ball joints, steering etc) and paint everything black. As in the title I am trying to do the build on a budet and shopping around has saved me alot of cash.

Anyway a month later Dave turned up with my chassis and body, so it was time to put it all together. With in a week the chassis was on all four wheels, with all new brakes, steering, wheels and tyres.

The front brakes were put on the back and the back brakes were put on the front, with the brake pipes swopped on the master cylinder

I also replaced the steel fuel pipe with copper 6mm pipe, inside the tunnel and fitted the electric fuel pump

With all this done it was time to fit the body, which dropped on and fitted nicely

Now it was engine time. I stripped it down and to my surprise all the internals (bearings etc) were original vw components and in excellent condition. so with that, the money put towards the engine rebuild was put to a little bit of bling, a set of 1600cc barrels and pistons, two new cylinder heads, 009 dissy and a set of webber carbs. Time to drop it on to the gearbox, all fitting nice.

With the engine in, the rear camber looked ten times better

So far its took me about six weeks to get to this stage, working on it about a couple of hours a night.
so far the build is nothing spacial and a bit of a basic build up, but with the budget been a little tight I am well please with it so far.
