Beach Buggy Rolling Chassis Help / Axle gaiters, again!
« on: October 03, 2020, 11:21:37 AM »
I replaced tge axle gaiters a while ago, but I'm not at all happy with the fit of the circular clips at each end. Icm going to remove them and use the previouly fitted jubilee style ones.
So, what's the chances of being able to do this without draining the box?
I'm guessing perfectly doable if I want my garage floor covered in box oil, otherwise don't try to cut corners.  Am I correct?

Thoughts?

Parts Wanted / Exhaust to clear twin carbs.
« on: September 03, 2020, 09:12:16 PM »
Got a new motor with twin carbs but neither my cannon nor merged exhsussts will clear the carbs sufficiently. I plan to get a new exhaust made, but need something to put me on for a couple if months.
Anyone got anything suitable and cheap? (don't want to spend a small fortune for just a few weeks use.)
Thanks.

Beach Buggy Electrical Help / Fuel pump wiring.
« on: September 03, 2020, 06:18:17 PM »
Wirung in an electric fuel pump, which seems straight forward enough, one wire yo ground and a feed which I'm planning to do from the same feed as the coil.
Any issues so far?

I'm also wondering about putting a switch in to act line of security, working on the buggy not getting far if the buggy were to be hot wired but the pump not be switched on.
I'd wire the switch to a relay, and have the relay provide the power to the pump.
Any issues there?

Any thoughts pro/con this idea would be welcome.  ;-)up
Thanks

Would using twin cannon exhaust make setting up twin carbs easier than using a 4 into 1 exhaust?

Beach Buggy Engine and Exhaust Help / Which electric fuel pumpm
« on: August 09, 2020, 09:41:28 PM »
Changing to Weber 34 ICTs with a bell crank throttle.
Looks like the bell crank will foul my mechanicsl fuel pump so considering an electric one. But which?
Any recomendations?
What about pressure regulator? Built in or seperate from pump, and fixed pressure or variable?
 :-\
Thanks.

Beach Buggy Engine and Exhaust Help / Fan bolt torque
« on: August 09, 2020, 12:42:10 PM »
Putting the alternator and fan back together.
The book says 43lb foot for the fam bolt. But my socket is a 3/4 inch drive snd my torque wrench 1/2 inch.
So how tight is 43lb foot?
Must have done it OK last time when I put the new fan on.

Also, can it be put in fton the flywheel end, or must it be put in from the starter end?
Thanks.

Beach Buggy Rolling Chassis Help / Axle gaiters
« on: February 29, 2020, 02:16:34 PM »
OK so it's generally accepted that 'split' axle gaiters should have the split at 3 or 9 o'clock, rather than 12 o'clock. However my new ones, and I imagine most, have thinner walls opposite the split which I pressume is to more room between the half shafts and the chassis forks. But that would leave the split at 12 o'clock.
Still fit with the split at 3 or 9 ?

Beach Buggy Engine and Exhaust Help / Doghouse tinware
« on: January 14, 2020, 03:37:34 PM »
I don't have the bolt on bits of the doghouse on the rear of my fanshroud.
I've never thought of it as being an issue on a buggy engine.
What do you all think?
