Beach Buggy General Help / Removing Chrome coating?
« on: February 10, 2020, 07:38:04 PM »
Right then...

I have a few large chrome coated metal parts that I would like to get powder coated, but I need to de-chrome the coating so that powder-coating is then possible. What I'm asking is how the hell do you de-chrome them?

I'm sure someone can point me in the right direction.

Brought a lot of fantastic memories and encouragements from the past, still really grateful to them all. ;-)(-;

There is a couple of us heading over to this, in the past we have gathered and watched this from Beachy head. There is a large carpark 5 all day, toilets, a pub, we usually take a picnic, chill out overlooking Eastbourne and watch the planes passing below us as they come round the head.

Here are more details, if your interested and want to join us let me know on here.

Parts Wanted / Fuel tank connecting piece
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:00:25 AM »
Guy's I'm putting together a small fuel tank for my test rig and I would like to use the standard tank connector like this

https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/113298221A/fuel-tank-tube-kit-no-filter-t1-t2-74-car/

so my ask is does any one have an old tank knocking about that's knackered but the threaded part at the bottom is usable and they would be able to cut it out with a bit of extra metal around it so I can braise it onto my small tank.

Guys I have just put together a test rig to run engines on, and, I have used a t3 bellhousing, now my question is,

Although the T1 eng bolts onto it, the depth of the area where the starter motor mounts is 10mm deeper from the engine,
so does this mean I'm unable to use the T1 eng with a 200mm standard flywheel or can I just get a type 3 starter and all should work?

Over to you!!!!!!!

Sooo me-thinks its the valve stem oil seals giving up.
Wanna try and do them without taking the head off, I know about the long piece of string down the bore just wandering if there are any other bright ideas  :-)Geek .

Hi all,

Looking for a g/box cradle for a 1970ish beetle, the bit where the rear gearbox mounts attach and fixes to the frame horns, I don't think there are any versions they seem to be all the same.
Happy to collect at Volksworld thats why I'm asking now.
