anyone on here  own a buggy and live in or around peterborough
Hi. I'm about 5 miles north of Bourne. There are a couple more, Stamford and Oakham, that I know of. There's an East Midlands Buggy Club Facebook page - had loads of ideas for this year but covid put the mockers on that. We'll try next summer. Whereabouts are you?

Beach Buggy Engine and Exhaust Help / Re: Spark Plugs
« on: August 16, 2020, 11:39:15 PM »
Try the Green Spark Plug Company, Hugh.
A few have recommended it. The NGK plug to get for a type 4 2ltr is BP6ES or BP5ES.  The "P" denotes the more protruding centre electrode and because of the angle of the plug in a type 4 head there's loads of room. It means the spark happens a little further into the chamber.
I'll be interested to read what's recommended for a 1.6tp type 1.

Try Coolair. I've been buying genuine ATE brake stuff from them. Yes it's more expensive than the Chinese crap but it's decent quality.
e.g. for a 64

Anyone got one sat doing nothing.
All the badic ones seem to be 'out of stock' and I don't feel minded ti spend more on a fancy dan one which costs more than an actual pimp.
Ta.
Dead easy to make Steve. Any old bit of 5 or 6mm metal and cut it to the shape of the gasket, drill two holes for the studs and Robert's yer father's brother.

Is the filter replaceable/cleanable?
Replaceable

I'm not a fan of the Facet boxes - although that is what I carry as a spare! I fitted a Facet Posiflow to the buggy and have never had an issue. In fact I took the regulator off as the pump is low enough pressure as long as your needle valves are in good nick. Having said all that I fitted a Carter rotary pump to my bus and would fit one to the buggy next time. They are already regulated to 3psi and have a built in filter. It's usually around 90 which is more than others cost but you get what you pay for.

Beach Buggy Engine and Exhaust Help / Re: Fan bolt torque

No much help now Steve, but I bought a 1/2inch up to 3/4inch adapter to use the big sockets on my 1/2inch torque wrench.

Parts Wanted / Re: Type 4 flywheel hole plug
« on: July 20, 2020, 11:18:18 PM »
I used a big rubber bung on mine of the correct diameter and cut it down to shape the hole
It'd be good to get an original and get 3D printed copies made though

not got one but thinking the holes was used for a timing mark on the flywheel and as part of the basic diagnostics system on some models. A rubber blanking grommet will probably be easier to find
I would normally Snoopy but the thickness isn't constant so I was hoping to find an original that clips in.

Would anyone happen to have one (or two as a mate is also after one) of these

The plug goes in the inspection hole for the flywheel on a type 4 - a hole that is of no use unless you have an auto box apparently.
