Title: Waterproof cover
Post by: Zip Buggy on June 21, 2019, 05:30:54 PM
As some will know after IBW, I need a waterproof cover for the buggy that fits. Not worried about it being breathable as it'll only be used at night on campsites - just waterproof. Don't want a cheapie as I've been there and done that. Recommendations please folks?

Thanks guys - waterproof small car cover purchased! 8)

I hope it may deter people like the drunk I found sleeping in my buggy at 7am on Saturday morning!

The homemade cover on there failed to keep him out!

Any Kevlar versions?? ;D

'...like the drunk I found sleeping in my buggy at 7am on Saturday morning! '

Blimey that must have been an alarming sight. If you got away without them being sick in your buggy you have done well.

I wonder what 'booby traps' or anti drunk devices would be legal and effective ?

You certainly need to ensure someone cannot easily hot wire your buggy if its parked on the street.

Yes, he wasn’t happy at being woken up - threatened to come back later & vandalise it >:(

I have been thinking about some form of immobiliser...perhaps I need to think faster!

Halfords one I have is decent. Melts pretty easy if you dont give the exhausts time to cool down enough but I cant really fault it on that.

A simple earth wire from the cb side of the coil to earth with a bulb in circuit will stop them hot wiring it as it stops the points circuit from working. A battery master switch is easily overridden by a wire from battery pos to the coil as it will bump start. Mechanical locks are a deterrent.

Sorry Snoopy, not fully following - how does that work?

a wire to earth from the CB side of the coil with an LED and switch in circuit will short the power to earth with the switch made and LED lit as electricity takes the easiest route to earth, so even adding power to the coil as in a hot wire it will not start.
Turn the switch off and the power will go through the ignition as normal and the engine will run.
Or you could put another hidden switch in the ignition feed so you can turn off the buggy feed to the ignition even if somebody forces the ignition switch to start it.
A bikini roof may help as it makes getting in harder  :D

If you have a normal buggy like mine you'll probably find thieves get frustrated as the chances are it won't start any which way !

nooooo just old school mechanic without a big v8. Home brew security can be harder to crack than factory or supplier fitted stuff.
