Thankyou both, It sounds like a 4 into 1 is the first thing to sort on the engine then, any recommendations?

I quite like the idea of having an unusual buggy although as a boy i always wanted a manx of GP. I just hope it doesn't make it awkward when getting bits.

Where should i start when looking online?

Are there LED light assys on the market that would fit the existing lights?

Apologies Matt, there is actually very little movement in the pedals but I had to modify a woodruff key as the brake pedal one was missing and mine were all to big width and height wise but a bit of fettling ended up as nice tight fit

Its Matt  ;-)up. Well done getting them freed up. Yes they are the best pedal design by far. I'm getting a batch of them re-bushed next week if that's of any interest.

I don't think the front fender flares are original and I think the bonnet would have been separate, not moulded in.

A 4 into 1 will gove a noticable change compared to the cannons which are not performance pipes. Photos of a cobra may be hard to find late 60's early 70's in the buggy boom firms sprang up all over the place for a short lived craze blip some doing blatant rip off copies and others tweaking a shell to make another design. Manx David is the body type guru.

You are better off with mirrors mounted on the windscreen frame motorbike ones are ok , have a look on the members buggies section or some of the meets under I know what you did last summer as it is photo heavy and see if you can spot something you like.

A tidy looking buggy and with a spare wheel carrier.

Thanks, i cant take any credit for it, its the person who had it before i bought it that did all of the work, it was just a rolling chassis when he got it.

The engine is a 1298cc and is quite slow to respond so i know i have a little tuning to sort. Also considering changing the exhausts for a 4 into 1 as the previous owner thought that that was likely to help.

Thankyou, Ive borrowed a copy of the dune buggy handbook and cant find any mention of the cobra. Do you know of any photos of an original at all?
When you say the front wings look altered, what do you mean?
