Wide 5 alloys mmm may be hard to find, you could go wide 5 to 4 X 130 beetle or 5 X 4.5 inch jag/ chevy adaptors. The other way i to change the drums and brakes depending on axle and gearbox years.

Will see you there a bit early for a pint though.

Beach Buggy General Help / Re: Break Disc,s
« Last Post by Buggybaggy on August 14, 2018, 06:46:31 PM »
I built my current one with front discs standard rear drums. Previously had a buggy with drums all round.
As I neede brakes of some sort I went for discs up fromt for ease of set up and ease of ongoing maintenance.
I tried to use 2psi residual pressure valves but couldn't seem to get any with the correct thread to attach to the standard VW brake pipes. In the end I thought I'd try without and they are fine.
Only locking issue I have is on loose surfaces when vraking fairly hard.

Iíve discs around, upgraded  :-\ from drums . You need to ensure the correct master cylinder is fitted. As previously said, no disenable brake improvement over well set up drums. Less maintenance, lack of fade and convenience threw it for me.

Thanks for reply, not really looking at driving in the wet - dry weather only.

What would you suggest?
