Beach Buggy Body and Chassis Help / What colour is my buggy?
« on: March 22, 2021, 05:57:32 PM »
My buggy is yellow, that much I do know! Can anyone offer any suggestions of exactly what shade of yellow?
Ford Signal yellow has been suggested to me.
I am going to get some work done at some point and I would like the colour to remain exactly as it is.
I realise that I am asking people to judge from a photo but would welcome your replies.
And I do know that I need to clean the windscreen!

Beach Buggy Rolling Chassis Help / Wheel suppliers
« on: March 01, 2021, 12:26:19 PM »
Can someone please recommend a supplier of buggy wheels to me. I am liking the look of some that appear in the calendar and am just considering having a look around to see what is available.

Beach Buggy General Help / Unleaded petrol
« on: February 10, 2021, 11:32:19 AM »
When I was a kid my Dad would go to the petrol station where the choice was diesel or a selection of leaded petrol ranging from 2 star to 5 star.

At some point unleaded came along and the leaded stuff was phased out. After this if you had a car that was registered pre 1980-something you had to put an additive in your tank along with your unleaded petrol.

A few months ago I bought my Buggy which is pre 1980-anything and one of the things I asked the seller about was if any additive was required for the fuel and he said no.

Could someone please tell me whether I have been misinformed or why it is that an additive is no longer required. Has the fuel changed since the 80's?

I have not had any problems and have not driven the Buggy much due to lockdowns and crappy weather but if I should be putting an additive in the tank I will do so. I don't want any unnecessary engine issues.

Beach Buggy Electrical Help / Indicator Flasher Unit
« on: October 15, 2020, 05:47:37 PM »
Hi. I have been advised that I need to source a new indicator flasher unit as the one currently fitted is for a 3 light set-up - front, rear and repeater - and I do not have a repeater. As a result it is flashing too fast and the fuse keeps blowing.
There are loads of units online but I can't seem to find any that specify that they are for a 2 light set-up with no repeater.
Can anyone please help?

Members Buggies / Old photos
« on: October 11, 2020, 05:40:50 PM »
Having read a number of threads on here now I see that photos and particularly old photos are often of interest.
I bought my Hustler about a month ago and the chap I bought it from gave me a bag containing an assortment of odds and ends with it. Inside the bag there were a number of pictures of the buggy from over the years and here is a few of them.
The chap that sold me the car only owned it for a few months so the pics must have been passed on to him when he bought it.
Before buying I ran a check which tells me that it was changed to blue and silver in 1998 from mauve so some of these are pretty old.
This first one I took yesterday so this is how it looks now.

Beach Buggy General Help / Steering wheel centre hub
« on: October 10, 2020, 06:09:52 PM »
Has anyone purchased one of these steering wheel hubs before? I am looking for something to fit my buggy and there is only one review on e-bay which says that the back is solid with no recess for the nut and rod.

Newbie Welcome Area / Greetings
« on: October 05, 2020, 08:25:45 AM »
Greetings from a rather wet and blustery Cornwall.
After a wait of around 30 years I am pleased to announce that I finally own a Beach Buggy.
I very nearly bought one when I was about 18 or 19 but my Mum talked me out of it telling me how impractical it would be.
The desire to own one never went away and a couple of weeks ago I made an epic 650 mile round trip to Kent and the (hopefully) attached image is the result.
