Any tips on setting timing

Anybody got any tips on timing as I need to reset mine as have had he distributor out along with various other bits whilst doing the inlet manifold and new fuel pump, doesn't seem to want to start now done usual checks and have spark at plug?

Have look on u tube loads of vids to watch, and a lot easy to understand that reading a manual
