The trip on my Smiths Classic mechanical gauge I bought from Speedy Cables has stopped working.  I rang them up today to try and arrange a repair and they told me it would be 8 weeks from receipt of the gauge.

I asked about prebooking the repair and they refused to allow that, even after I offered to pay deposit or for the entire repair upfront.  I said to them, so my only options would be to be without the vehicle for 8 weeks or have to buy a new gauge.  They said not to put words in their mouth, so I asked for another option they didn’t have one. They did say if I mark it as urgent, they might get to it quicker, no guarantee and they are having staffing issues with COVID, which is totally understandable, but also worrying that they won’t meet the estimated 8 weeks. They just had no flexabilty, and after the multiple delays I had when I first bought the gauges I have no confidence in them anymore.

So very frustratingly I am asking if anyone knows of an alternative for mechanical Speedo repairs?

They did a vintage Lagonda Speedo, if you've got a good sob story you never know!?

These people specialise in Smiths gauges repair as well as making speedo drive cables etc..  Know of them but have never used them.

UPDATE:
I contacted a company that was recommended to me JDO Instruments. http://www.jdoinstruments.com/

Their standard turn around is 5-7 working days, but you can pay a 50% premium for a 48 hour service.
I plumbed for the standard service.

I send the Speedo off by Hermes on Saturday afternoon, JDO received it at 12:20 yesterday.
Had an emailed invoice today at 11:16 saying they have fixed it and will ship it out as soon as they have received payment.
Payment made by PayPal (Friends & Family this avoids a 5% surcharge)

All being well I will have it back in the next couple of days.

That's good Gordon, if they come through worth adding to the recommended suppliers folder

Hope all's well
