..... the other side .

Evening all , hi and just wanted to say Thankyou for allowing me here . I was pointed to the forum by Fugglededum ( I think and correct me if I am wrong ) , via a welding forum as I had made posts there.

Long story short , I went and bought a wreck of a 72 beetle for salvagable parts which most has gone into the scrap yard in the sky.

And then ... along game a wreck of a Sandrail , which is going to be a long project as there is so much wrong , it’s barely right .

I am based in south somerset with a garage full of “scrap” and a log book lol

So anyway , enough of that for now , and hope to see you in the forums .

Cheers Sam
It seemed a good idea at the time !!

Welcome Sam.

Perhaps I shouldn't laugh but your description of acquiring known wrecks of both a Beetle and a Sandrail shows either an exaggerated fear or well informed grasp of what lays ahead !

We look forward to hearing your progress and helping with advice, steers to parts or humorous banter. You can start a build thread elsewhere on this site and take as long as you like achieving your goals. Such threads always get watched and attract helpful comments.

But do post a few snaps of your wrecks if possible so we can see where you are starting.
Hugh

Welcome on board, sounds interesting project prospects.

South Somerset, I may be along at some stage for the biscuits as I'm near Dorchester but work in Yeovil.

Cheers H

Hi Hugh , thanks for the Warm welcome , I will shortly start a rebuild / salvage thread , the beetle was a non com as it was all joggled panels and filler , body welded to triple plated floor pans . Nothing salvagble apart from tunnel , and the sandrail , was , erh , rusty to say the least ..

I will have to work out how to attach photos from phone as I don’t have them on my laptop . Prepare to be shocked !

Trust me I can banter with the rest of them and just as happy to be laughed at as this is either going to be one big mistake or a project on the scale the Great Wall of China

Hi Hunter , the door is always open for a brew and custard creams . I am a mile off South Petherton , do ten minutes out of yeovil .

Any help or advice would be really appreciated . And yes , I do accept laughing at me as a form of payment for tea as this is going to be  a barrel of fun splitting rust from metal along with never having worked on an engine before in my life apart from serving my van .
