Hi, after posting on TheSamba and saying Hi on the newbie bit I'm here for some advice. I'm restoring a GP Buggy with a 1964 frame (number 718927), that's fine. Engine number F2078327, I reckon a late single port which is now a 1600 having had new barrels and pistons, by the looks of things.

So, what is the transmission? Code 9947051. It has no letters before the numbers (I can see). I have gone through the charts but I am none the wiser. I know these type of questions have been asked a million times before but I'd like to know what I have.

somewhere between 1968 and 72, a photo of the serial number would be useful. you could find the final drive by putting it in 4th and turning the input shaft and counting the brake drum revolutions remembering 4th is not 1 to 1 drive but 1 to 0.91 for the equation.

Hi, thanks. I guess I could calculate the final drive to know for sure. I know the picture isn't very clear but the number is definitely 9947051. Obviously corrosion has been eating it away. I don't think there is a letter in front of it, which is a surprise. I suppose the corrosion could have taken it completely. As it is an F2 serial number engine, so say 1970 (1300 SP), what gearbox would it be if original?

Not a 64 as the chassis is! Pre 59 the gearbox is pre code so unless it is form a bus! It will be 12-1300cc only way is sump plug out and teeth count.. Bit it is a H :-X57
