Pushrod tubes are an easy fix
Get a GOOD spring loaded set, there's plenty of Chinese junk ones available. New seals.

Jack up one side to move oil across, rockers off, take out push rods keeping them in the right order for refitting. Break out all the old tubes with a mole grip and brute force

Oil the rubber sealing rings before fitting Fit new ones with the seals and locate one end then I found putting a piece of tin over the hole in the block you can compress the spring and slide it over the tin to line it up and ease the tin out

My Sidewinder has increasingly been running like a bag of nails and a week ago the clutch cable snapped then on the Saturday gathering of buggys in Brum Merscury was 'noting' that there was a 'machine gun' sound coming from ahead in the cruise - where I was - then I had ignition failure. Well whilst I get a new clutch cable I'm temporarily reusing a metal coat hanger to bridge the clutch cable to the clutch arm, Snoopy produced a length of wire to connect the battery direct to the coil allowing bump starting. So yes buggys are a regular source of niggles and I appreciate you are somewhat out on a limb yet we are here to provide morale support and the odd tip - like Dave Doon.

Regarding the rough running/misfires I am going to put in new plugs and leads...

Anyone used the scat, CSP or Fast Fab tubes?

Would they be suitable for a 1776? Want to make sure I get the best bits that will work!

Arran my top tip for "...endless misfires. Black plugs.... black oiley plugs ..." is a new set of plugs and HT leads which has just restored my Sidewinder to full functioning.... for now.

The HT leads must be yellow.
