My buggy is running a 1776 built off a frayed Brazilian engine (according to the guy I bought it from)

Removing the plugs to service the engine, they are Bosch and marked X5DC.

does this seem correct? I would normally expect to see WR8AC or WR8DTC. Could I be running with the wrong plugs?

Later engines were fitted with long reach (19mm thread length as compared to 12mm). W8CC would be a more usual fitment though.

They're short reach though. Check the thread depth with a bit of bent wire, you don't want to put short reach plugs in a long reach thread.
