I think I may take a copy of David's letter and send it to my MP....

No way in a million years this fuel loving 6 pot lump will get within a country mile of any emmissions regs....despite the fact it does less than 1k a year and yet I drive a diesel car ( the absolute antichrist if you listen to certain quarters) a minimum of 40k per year....?

A sledgehammer to crack a walnut springs to mind......

TBH I'm not sure if I slipped up by mentioning low mileage in my letter Ben, I kinda wish l hadn't now but it's done.

I'd hate to be the one to bring in possible mileage limits for 'classics', but there again l was only being truthful.

Have patience a bit. Keep filling in the survey document even if you thing 99% of it is not relevant. There is one page only for "kit cars", (their words).
I do know they have been inundated with response from individuals, forums reps, Club people.

If this EU 5\6 & then 7 emissions goes ahead with both IVA and retrospective issues for past built vehicles there will be a problem. But it`s not yet a done deal. Remember Dave DND`s post regarding the lady who went to the High Court following the Brexit outcome and the threatened "no vote" for parliament members. She won.

Think we are seeing only the thin edge of the wedge yet... They simply want old cars off the road. Historic vehicles..... writings on the wall for allowed usage in terms of mileage allowed in a year.

To my mind.... where the statement is "need to rush legislation through as fast as possible" so that all cities \ all countries have a common policy" is indicative of the modern world`s instant "knee - jerk" reaction with zero common sense thought is simply where all government bodies are at. Run by noddy & his gang ..

I see Germany has proposed giving cities the right to ban older non euro compliant diesals then we have other cities reporting high carbon monoxide and CO2 levels so they want to ban petrol motors, the thin end of the wedge as stated so it is well worth adding another letter to the minister in support of older historic vehicles and kit cars or we may all be tightly controlled with hardly any annual mileage.

Keep on sending the forms in from the link and you do not need to do every box just the ones that have an effect on our hobby.

Done

There is a box about post brexit and do we want to follow the eu rules afterwards.  That gave me an opportunity to let rip re German attitudes to anything other than a standard tin box

Also waxed lyrical about the cost benefit of destroying the kit car industry and associated suppliers in the cost benefit question box

Last day today

Just make sure to remind the powers that be that Europe has pretty much ground to a halt over the last 48 hours due to the extreme weather and that the "Gas Guzzling 4x4 vehicles" with "dirty Emissions", the ones that they are trying to ban and eliminate from their cities, are actually the only vehicles moving at the moment and bringing hope and rescue to those in desperate need.

I'm seething here listening to Jeremy Vine on R2 'bigging up' the 4x4s that he's described in the past as 'gas guzzling monsters'!

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate 95% of journalists? bleugh
